Improved Site Searches And Lists.

Improved Site Searches.
I have tried in vain to find the much-mentioned JAG wiki as well as others. I can’t even find my onw, using my own keywords.
I submit that the search function needs to be improved. Until then, I submit a page here of all wikis, with only the “official” title (Survival 101, for example), with that as a link. If the Creator wishes to add a description, then they can post a description in a thread (under their username, not anonymously). The sites would be in alphabetical order.
This differs significantly from the Wetpaint Promotional Adsin that:
A. It’s not for the purposes of advertising, only for the purposes of listing all sites;
B. It can be found.
1  out of 1 found this valuable. Do you?

Not only have you tried in vain to get some proper results in site searches, so has Wetpaint. Over the past 3 years WP has manipulated the search function down to the point it will only bring forth their own fan base wikis as a result. As far as a list of all the wikis is concerned, WP used to list all the sites created in all categories. Last year they removed that capability.

There are three places one can search into a site.
1. The URL - Looking for words in the URL address
2. Titles of pages - Looking for words on page titles
3. Content of pages - Looking for words in the content of a site

Splats2 can show you how to find most anything on Wetpaint. Visit this page and the other two pages on Splats2 to learn how to do an advanced Google search.

Of course, just to embarrass me trying it just now got a result of “survival101.wetpaint.com/page/Renfroism” (one of my pages rather than the homepage), but normally I get nothing.
As to trying the URL in the address bar, “Survival 1Ø1” uses a non-URL friendly symbol and the already is a “Survival101.com,” “Survival101.net,” and “Survival101.org” (and all three of them the same site).
I submit it’s time to bring the list back; Perhaps even making being part of the list as a requirement to build a site…

Wetpaint should bring back its site search tool. sure, you can can search for your own site like that, but if you want to find other Wetpaint wikis, you will have a problem. For example, i want to join a Wetpaint wiki based on the game "Football Manager". I could type it into Google with Wetpaint next to it, but not every wiki comes up on Google results. So, now wikis cannot get as many members. Sites like 'Awesome Gaming" and "MSJ Gaming"/"EMGN" got many members because users searched for gaming through Wetpaint. Now, those sites rarely get members. This is probably the feature I want back the most. Do you find this valuable?

Splats2 can show you how to type in Football Manager and it will bring back over 9000 hits for Wetpaint wikis dealing with that game. If one doesn't know how to look for things on the internet, then chances are they will not find what they are looking for.

Try typing this into Google's search window:

allintext: "Football Manager" wetpaint.com

"____Here’s my issue; If I can’t find my own site, then others can’t find it either."
When this was put into the Google Search window, your site was listed first on the list and a couple of times later in the list.

allintext: "Zombie " wetpaint.com or allintext: "Zombie survival" wetpaint.com

No one will find your wiki or other wikis from using Wetpaint's search function. That is a guarantee. Even Wetpaint will recommend using Google's search.

How is this technique compared to Wetpaint's search? At least WP's search is extremely consistent...Sorry no results found.. hahaha
