I backed up my site but only the pages were backed up, not the threads and I'd really like them, is it possible? 1  out of 1 found this valuable. Do you?

Well, since we can restore pages, you can back them up. Since we can't restore threads, I don't believe you can back them up.

If you would like to be able to back up threads, put that as a thread on the suggestions page. 1  out of 1 found this valuable. Do you?

However, there is a way to back up threads without acutally having an option to do it. If you would like to back up, or save, some of the important threads on your wiki, you can save them as a page. In case they ever got deleted, you would still have the important information that they contained in them on a page.

To save a page on a site with writer's, you need to be a writer or up and hit the button "Add as Page". On a site where registered users can edit, you have to be a registered user and you can hit the button "Add as Page", and it will add a page of that thread on the wiki.

So, this is a way around backing up your threads without really having an option to do so. I hope this helps!

As Walruswoldstudios has stated, that is the way to maintain copies of your threads. Once you save them as pages, the will be backed-up when you do a site back-up. Once the page is saved, you may consider putting the page in a structure to your liking.

Here are instructions on how to do so, along with a copy of a thread backed-up to a page.

As the method suggested by CryingDove no longer works try using this simple method. I use Firefox so this only applies to that.

Wetpaints backup just saves each page as html, so do the same with your threads. Right click the thread page & select 'save page as' & select Web Page, HTML. Save to a folder on your pc along with the zip files from Wetpaint.

Hope this helps

Great solution Uzi. Keep in mind that saved zip file is only for that thread page. Any subsequent pages for that thread would have to be done by the same method. There are sites out their with tens of thousands replies to just one thread. But your method does save the thread page to a zip file.

Another point to make here is be sure to select the maximum amount of results to 50 per page. This will save some effort in the long run.

Great tip....
