2. RE: How?

To become a moderator on Wetpaint Central, you need to: -We typically will only consider a user that has been active on WPC for at least a few months. -We look for users that are familiar with Wetpaint features and regularly provide accurate answers to newbie questions in the forum. If you don't know the answer, you know where to look for it or who to ask. -We look for users that don't provoke or flame other users. You should be calm, cool, and collected rather than snippy, snarky, and sarcastic. -You like helping people and enjoy being a part of the Wetpaint community. -You don't have Wetpaint baggage - meaning, there aren't 20 sites full of users that hate your guts because you used to be a member there, but you burned your bridges. Guess what? When those users come here for help they still won't like you. -To be a moderator you need to be respected, and that means that you have to be respectful of others. You get what you give. To become a moderator on another site, I suggest that you ask the creator and administrators of the sites how to become one. It is usually mentioned on the rules page of a site, and if you work hard and help out the site a lot, you might be able to be promoted to a moderator or writer on another site. However, it all depends. Do you find this valuable? |

No, there are no writers on WPC. There are registered users, moderators, administrators, and anonymous users. However, if the pages on WPC were not locked, registered users would be able to edit the pages. They have the ability to edit them, but because the pages are locked, registered users cannot edit the pages. Only moderators and up can edit on a locked page.

Becoming a moderator isn't easy, straight forward, nor a manifest. Rather, site creators, admin., and other moderators (like some others have stated) typically look for those with a special diligence, persistence, and interest in their site and topic, and overall the general proportion of their site. One must show that they have a broad spectrum of that particular site, and show responsibility in the face of adversity. This of course does not happen in days, nor weeks, nor a few months. It takes time of 'hardening' to become one. They must be able to keep consistency in BOTH pages and discussions. With that said, the individual must show that they are somewhat fimilar with the Wetpaint Editor and constantly increasing Wetpaint Features. Then again, most sites differ: * Some sites only want a member to show at least X amounts of genuine contributions, which I find frivolous because I fail to see how that can truly judge BOTH sides of the spectrum of a good moderator. * Some sites will promote users right away based on one's user name, or past experiences. Here are my steps of recommendation for you, somewhat97: 1. E-mail the site creator/ admin (whomever is frequently active) and ask them what THEY typically look for. 2. Get involved in the Community. Easy said then done in most cases; however, if you are somewhat new, I suggest that you make contributions that are fresh, fun, and engaging for the whole community. 3. Help other where needed. If someone has a question, never fear to answer it to you greatest ability. 4. Make sure to be a friendly face in the community, not the outcast. 5. Encourage time and future participation to newcomers. Send a welcome compliment or friendly message. These are just a few, solid steps that you can do.
