Table 3.0 Contest

Even though I couldn't get some of the cells and lines to work correctly, I tried. So, here is my entry

That's amazing! I didn't even believe that was a table until I signed in as Wetpaint and looked at it in EasyEdit mode. Great job! 4  out of 4 found this valuable. Do you?

Thanks. I couldn't have done it without you guys! I had let my email buddies know about it and had to explain to them that it was a table with columns, rows and colors. When viewing the finished work it looks like I found a picture and just pasted it on there, but I didn't. It took quite awhile to figure out what I wanted to do and work with it to get the look I wanted. Today, I added some music to go along with the patriotic feel. I had fun! That's what Wetpaint is for - to be creative and have fun!

How did you get the 'fading' effect? Do you find this valuable?

I was having a hard time getting the table to do right. I worked with it several different times and changed it completely from the first one I did (which didn't look very good at all).
Every time I would put the colors in and save it, the table wouldn't work with me. So I worked around any problem I had and figured different ways of doing things.

With the faded look - I searched for 'free dividers' and found the faded red bar. It was also a way to get the table to stay the size I wanted. The faded look was already that way.

I also did a search for 'free stars clipart' and found the stars that you see on there. Each star is in a cell by itself and I changed the color background for each star to navy blue.

To the left of the flag you will see what looks like a flagpole. This is a column with many rows where I changed the background to a light gray. When working with it from Easy Edit it's actually supposed to be wider with a line all around it, but it didn't turn out that way after saving it, which is fine. I think it turned out okay.

This was actually a rush project for me, because I didn't know about the contest until about two or three days before the deadline. With being occupied with other things it was kind of hard to squeeze this in. I wanted to do this project, because I thought it would fun to do, and it was.

If I hadn't been pressed for time, I could have used a gradual change of colors which would lead to the faded effect. When you change the background color of a cell or table you will notice the colors available to you and how the colors make a gradual change. You can probably get the same faded effect this way, but will take more time to work with it. You may want to give it a try and see what you come up with.
