Permissions/Writers/Top Contributors Problem
Oct 16 2007, 9:32 PM EDT
I have a wiki that allows Comments from anybody and I have Permission setting that only invited members can be Writers. For this wiki, I want to be the only writer (along with a couple of well known associates) to tightly control the structure and content of my site. An unknown person registered as a member from the Join This Wiki process, but I sent them a message that they were welcome to Comment but could not be a writer. I was surprised when their Profile picture appeared in the Top Contributors box. Top Contributors should only show writers, moderators, creators and not those who can only Comment. How do I suppress their Profile Pic in the Top Contributors box (and no I don't want to ban their Comments)?

P.S.Its also possible that this unknown person may have already been a member of another wetpaint wiki (instead of going thru Join This Wiki process). Either way I want to suppress the Profile Pic in Top Contributors. Do you find this valuable? |

Anyone who makes a contribution to your wiki can appear in the top contributors panel. This includes comments and changes to their own profile.

Precisely, which is a problem from my perspective. I suppose I take issue with wetpaints' definition of "Top Contributors". It is too inclusive. I consider "Comments" to pages a by-product of page Contributions and insufficient in and of themselves to qualify as a "Top Contributor".I am asking for some settings options to allow the Creator of wiki to control whose Pic's shows up in the "Top Contributors" box. To me, "Contributors" are members who can add and edit pages (invited writers only). To wetpaint, "Contributors" are anyone/everyone even if they only have permission to Comment only. This could result in many Profile Pics showing up in the "Top Contributors" box which represent those who "joined" but found out they could not be writers and have no interest in Commenting only. See the problem? Do you find this valuable? |

We believe that a vibrant discussion about a topic is a contribution to that topic. As we move forward with our plans to provide a discussion forum for our wikis, comments and replies (soon to be known as threads and posts) will come even more to the forefront of how people contribute.Do you find this valuable? |
