Hi,

supporting some main languages would be a great improvement for international accesibility to wetpaint wikis. At current time, however easy to use and nice-looking the wetpaint webs are, many non-english-speaking potential users are discouraged by the language problem, as is my case in Southeast Spain. I can understand the web tools, but my association members don't, so they tend to relay on their traditional e-mail attaching technology.

I find your software really useful and I think this is a main handicap, so please let me know if I can contribute somehow in the translation and the "speeding up" of the process :) I offer spanish translation, but I'm sure there'll be candidates for other languages.

Best regards,

Fernando

Roughly half of Wetpaint users are outside of North America, so we definitely understand the need to have Wetpaint available in languages other than English. We hope that this is something that we will be able to focus on soon. Thanks for providing your feedback on this issue. Do you find this valuable?

Hi Jeremy,

I didn´t thank you last time for your answer. 3 months after our last conversation, I repeat my question: any hope of translation of the Wetpaint webs? I see other people have asked for this and offered their help for different languages.. Is there anything we can do?

Our primary focus is on developing and enhancing the features on Wetpaint at the moment. With things changing so much and so quickly it doesn't make the most sense for us to localize Wetpaint right now. By the time things were localized or translated the interface is likely to have had some significant changes. Once we have implemented most of our major development efforts we can look more seriously at localizing for other languages. When and if we need help in this effort we will be sure to let the community know. Thanks again for your interest.

It's correct, you need first to finish your English interface to localize it.
On the other hand, if you just add editing features it would make a drastic effect in community building.
French: This is a section of a reply I received in French (in a message): ((même si je dois bcp étudier j'ai toujours)) OK, I was able to get the message, but this would be a great hurdle if you want to run a site with French speakers.
Arabic: adding text direction to the page editing tool would be great, you cannot control punctuation otherwise..
Hope these two features are easy to add. After all, wikis are primarily for communication and community building.
