has there been an update to fix the size of the navigation box? it is annoying to resize every page click. great site! 1  out of 1 found this valuable. Do you?

agreed, also that the menu is not like an applet, that is, it appears that the browser has to make a request for the subdirectories, rather than already knowing what they are, or at least, something makes expanding topics rather slow Do you find this valuable?

Yes, we load the navigation menu every time. That's because it could have changed since the last time you loaded it. Someone else could have moved, deleted, renamed, or added a page. Do you find this valuable?

makes sense. If you know where you want to go it's a drag to wait 3 seconds for every directory expansion. Could it instantly expand the last know directory structure, then poll for changes? That way if you know where you are trying to go you can get there faster. Alternately, if you navigate through the directory less than 5 seconds from the last request (I'm just navigating through the directory), could it assume you are just moving around, and that the last update (5 seconds ago) is still accurate? Or maybe this could be a user option? 1-update every directory request 2 update directories older than __ seconds. I realize the existing method makes sense for a very busy/active wiki, but for slow changing wikis it just makes you wonder what's so complicated about opening a sub-folder. I guess it's an optimization only for the lowly static users! Do you find this valuable?

When you're getting those 3-second load times, are you clicking on the page or just expanding the navigation via the triangles on the left? That's significantly faster.

On Wetpaint Central this morning, I'm showing under half a second response times on my cable connection at home. We've worked hard to make that as small as possible so that even a large navigation branch of about 50 sub-pages is less than 1k. If our servers are being slow, there's a bottleneck somewhere on the Internet, or your connection has high latency, you will see higher load times.

Our Navigation pane will be going through a redesign in a couple of months (no, I can't say when). At that time, we'll be incorporating this and other feedback as well as making some significant functionality improvements (no, I won't say what ;-). Thanks for your feedback. It means a lot to us.

Any success with this yet? I want people to see the whole menu. Everybody that visits doesn't know to resize it. Do you find this valuable?
