What happened to them on wetpaint sites? A new feature, "Top Contributors" seems to have taken its place? I need them for my sites navigation! ugh@#$% 3  out of 3 found this valuable. Do you?

The Keyword Tag cloud was removed and replaced with the Top Contributors cloud with yesterday's release. We are planning on re-adding the keyword tag cloud onto the Search results page with the next release. The new contributor cloud increases awareness of who is in the community and who is the most active on the site. Do you find this valuable?

That is not acceptable. I consider the Popular Keyword Tags on the left hand menu a necessity. It is already well documented in Wetpaint Central (FAQ and How To's) as being a FUNDAMENTAL feature of WetPaint Wikis. The ability to see all possible keywords in a website (without having to repeatedly guess what they are by searching for them) is akin to having an alternate menu for a site and is invaluable. You have taken a step backwards in this latest release. Please reconsider adding it back the way it was. By the way, "Top Contributors" in left hand menu is just more fluff in my opinion and has no value in my wetpaint wiki, http://www.prattarmyairfield.com because of a small set of qualified experts who will be building the site to provide careful quality control of this community history effort. Without the tag cloud, we will be forced to look at other alternatives to wetpaint and that is a shame because after much wiki research I chose wetpaint for its clean look and feel plus needed features. 1  out of 1 found this valuable. The Tag Cloud, as we call it internally, will return to the Search page. You won't need to guess the tags. Simply searching for anything will take a user to the search results page, and the cloud will be there. Do you find this valuable?

I understand your intentions of showing it AFTER you search for something, but what exactly is that something if you are new to the site?. There are so many ways of classifying content types in a website (text, photos, videos, documents, etc.) I would rather let the user let his eyes scan for clues first by viewing the cloud and clicking on his choice initially. That is one of THE main purposes of a cloud to give a user a starting place and understanding of the scope of the website. I appreciate your answers and suggestions that one must Search first, but why make them do this extra work to explore the site. It just does not make good sense. 1  out of 1 found this valuable. The whole idea of the "Browse" feature is exactly that, to "Browse". Forcing the browse results upon allready coming up witht he "keyword" is backwords logic. The "Top Contributors" cloud add no value to anyones site unless they are top contributers of similar sites. It is a waste of real estate, especially when similar wikis were allready posted on the right side bar.

Give us the option of selectng the "cloud" then within our settings now that there is an option. If we could select our own hand picked wikis for this area it might be of some worth. This might be of some benefit when people drill down into our sites. Then it makes sense to have links to other top wikis within that particular subject area versus having a browse feature that deep into the site is now less relevant.

We talked some more about this in another thread:

please return the keyword tag cloud

The "top contributors" information is not useful for those actually interested in the CONTENT of the site. The tag cloud is the most helpful aspect of the site, particularly, as some have metioned, for those of us wishing to invite new people to it. People need to be able to browse content by tag in order to see how useful wikis are. removing this feature has made it much less useful for me or interesting for the people I want to show it to

It needs to be visible BEFORE searching, so that this aspect (making it intrinsically interesting) is still true.
