Porno will automatically attach to your site
Apr 8 2007, 6:16 PM EDT
Beware! Porno links will automatically attach to your site (as they did on my
young daughters and her friends.). Please be aware that you have no
control of who WetPaint allows to attach to your sites (including XXX sites).

What do you mean by attach? Every Wetpaint site is controlled by the creator. If the creator of a site makes it editable by anyone, that's their choice. 1  out of 1 found this valuable. Do you?

The links are I guess advertisements put on through your third party agreement with Google Ads.
As the creator (and mother) I have tried endlessly to find a way to filter or delete these Ad links, (which
most are pornographic) to no avail. She only has hamsters on her site, so this shouldn't have triggered
anything that would allow these kinds of Ads.

Reporting inappropriate ads
Apr 12 2007, 12:56 PM EDT
Google Adsense ads are placed on Wetpaint pages to defer the cost of running the Wetpaint servers. Google periodically scans the sites and places ads on the page based on the content of the page. When there is little content on the page the Google ads can sometimes be off topic, but if inappropriate ads are placed on a site we encourage users to report it by following these steps:

1) Copy the display URL and paste in an email.
2) Click on the ad
3) Copy the URL in the browser and paste in an email (they may be the same, but usually not)
4) Send email to info@wetpaint.com

"Hey, Mr. B. Why is there is a link to chat with hot singles in my local area on our wiki? And what is a pimp?"

"Oh, those shouldn't really be on our page. But we don't have any control over it. That's how the company is able to offer it for free."

"That doesn't seem right."

"Yeah, it isn't."

"Is this another example of The Man sticking it to us?"

"Yes, Jackie, it is."

We can remove ads if you report them to us. If you don't like an ad, report it, but please stop trolling. 1  out of 1 found this valuable. Do you?

I'd also like to point out that many AntiVirus programs include the ability to block advertisements. In addition, programs like NetNanny that are designed to protect children from harmful content online also block most advertising. Most of the ads from Google are in no way pronographic in nature.
