A customizable permission system would indeed provide the most flexibility. It would also be a nightmare to design and implement. Do you know that there's now almost 400 distinct actions that a Wetpaint user can take?If you trust these people to invite others to your Private wiki, why do you not trust them with being moderators? 1 out of 1 found this valuable. Do you? |

"If you trust these people to invite others to your Private wiki, why do you not trust them with being moderators?"Did you miss the part about FAMILY? My wiki is about organizing a Family Reunion. My most prolific writer and inviter is also the one person I have to moderate and council the most. I trust that she will only invite family, I do not trust her to make Moderator decisions about other people's content. She thought another member who is a Moderator was abusing their privileges and asked for the same ability. It must be nice to be an only child orphaned at a young age. Do you find this valuable? |

"It must be nice to be an only child orphaned at a young age."Sorry, That was a pretty insensitive statement. My point was: Family dynamics are a minefield when it comes to granting privileges. There's an old saying: "Every family has a few". I'd settle for a few! Do you find this valuable? |

I'm constantly running into some motivational, and perhaps even ethical problems in the use of Wetpaint - because it's not possible to password protect individual threads or pages. The workaround of linking to another private Wiki won't work in terms of maintaining the flow of content, RSS feeds and tags. There does need to be a privacy option for pages -- and (the way I want to use my class Wiki) ideally, also for threads. I. Do you find this valuable? |
