Apr 1 2007, 10:49 AM EDT You could Re-Design the Settings Menu, and for the last option you could make it say "Security"! You could make it so that only Moderators, Administrators, and Creators can access it! So when you go to security you have to type in your Password, then you have a list of your users! But when the option first goes out you have to Create your Users, will their Username, Temporary Password, and E-Mail Address. Then at the bottom of the Create A User Panel is a Create Button. They would have to click "Create" then the User Would get an E-Mail with a link to Create Their User Account For That Website! So when they type in the URL address (exampleurl.wetpaint.com) A Box would Pop up, and it would say "Welcome to Blank Website ! Type in your Username, and Password Below ! If you do not have one Click here, and then the fill out a form like they would if they were sending a request for a writer!" I hope this Future Become Available As Soon As Possible! Apr 13 2007, 10:48 AM EDT I also think that this would be a very helpful function. Ideally, you would have the option of making the entire site pw protected, or just certain pages. An even higher level functionality would allow different user lists for each protected page (not automatic admittance to all private pages on a site). B/c Wetpaint is such an easy and adaptable tool, there are many organizational uses which could benefit from the additional feature. For example, a members group with threads and other public features could have a private page with the leaders' contact information or other proprietary information for members only. May 5 2007, 6:50 AM EDT I have documents that I want to keep private - they are dance steps and I want to make them available to others in my group but not to the whole world. I came to Wetpaint because I got the impression from the front page that this was possible. I now find out that it isn't. I don't want people stealing my dances. May 7 2007, 10:21 AM EDT One way to add a small amount of obfuscation-based privacy to your site is to use Uncategorized pages. The Uncategorized Pages report is available only to Moderators and up. While the pages are still accessible to anyone who knows their name, they don't show in the navigation, so a weird name, maybe with special characters, would enable you to hide the page pretty effectively. Your site has to be Registration-required or Invite-only in order to use this properly. 2 out of 2 found this valuable. Do you? |

May 16 2007, 2:12 PM EDT I work for a company where the majority of employees are computer phobic at best, most are able to utilize email and create word documents, but very few have their own websites. Wikis were designed to allow the enire world to contribute, but my company will never go for exposing any collaborating docuements until they are complete. Therefore we could never use your amazing wiki for company use - unless it were guarenteed to be private. You wiki is designed so that the interface is almost no different than composing an email or word document - perfect for the majority of our users. We are currently searching for a wiki - please don't tell me I will have to settle for some second rate wiki. 1 out of 1 found this valuable. Do you? |
