still no email notifications
Jan 12 2012, 6:45 AM EST
It's been like a year now. I am the main admin at Supernatural-fan-wiki, and I seem to have lost all email notifications forever since one of the times that Wetpaint had an issue with this ... mine just never came back up. I have tried everything in the book on my end. I am NOT getting any help from Wetpaint to solve this issue. I would really like SOMEONE to take the bull by the horns and solve this once and for all. PLEASE!Since I cannot get notification for anyone answering this post, please email me with ANY POSSIBLE SOLUTIONS to enderzu@comcast.net. THANK YOU! Do you find this valuable? |

There are many using the email notification system. There have not been any reports involving not being able to get them recently. Here are some things you can try.Go to your email account on comcast and look for a white list (accepted sites) or black (blocked sites) list, These will be found in options or preference section. Make sure that www, wetpaint, com is not in the black list. Place www.wetpaint.com is in the white list. Check your spam folder to see if the notifications are there. The notifications may be there or not. Some email systems will automatically delete messages they deem as spam. You will have to return here for answers. We do not respond by emailing. Do you find this valuable? |

"You will have to return here for answers. We do not respond by emailing. "I also would like to add that it is not wise to post your email address on public sites, for both humans and email spam bots can get your email, and send you spam. -Clay Do you find this valuable? |

"There are many using the email notification system. There have not been any reports involving not being able to get them recently. Here are some things you can try. Thanks, CryingDove, but I have tried everything on my end. Comcast doesn't have a whitelist or blacklist (not that I can find), but I turned off the spam filter on my Comcast account. But there are no messages from here even making it into my spam fiolder. It's like they are never being sent from wetpaint. I even tried changing my wetapint email address to another account I have, and whitelisting wetpaint there -- no dice. After all this time, and after all I have tried on my end, it seems clear to me that it's a wetpaint issue. No idea why. Is there any way to reset my account or something? I will work with you guys, but I need at least SOME help! Please! I understand if you can't email people. I will check back here over the next few days, but I am busy too, and not having notifications is crippling me. Gee thanks, Naru. Naturally I used disposable email address. I don't know how else I am supposed to get the notification I need if wetpaint's system is not working correctly. Do you find this valuable? |

SuperZu, I joined the wiki and have selected all options to be notified via email. Several threads are being watched. From this action I will be able to determine whether it is a site issue or an account issue. One other thing I would like you to check. From your profile select "change email and password" It will ask you for your password to verify". Once done it will bring you back to the profile page. Click that option again, and make sure there is NOT a check mark next to the option that reads "I do not wish to receive emails from wikis by Wetpaint". Click Update then return back to your profile. Within a minute of creating my profile and configuring it, my email had two notices from the Supernaltural Fan Wiki. A welcome message and another. Here is a link to a screenshot of one of the email http://image.wetpaint.com/image/3/HEoe7xT3tR7rXduxbx4gDQ151918 Reaffirm the information that has been posted in this reply is correct (the check mark) and get back to this thread. The issue you are experiencing is not a wiki issue but rather an account issue. Your response will allow us to go further in finding out why you are not receiving the notifications. Thanks cryingdove Do you find this valuable? |

Thanks CryingDove -- I have taken that very step several times. As I think I mentioned, I even tried changing the email address I use, in case it's a Comcast issues. It's not. I know it is an issue with my account specifically, as I have checked with fellow wiki members, and they get email notifications.Another thought: There are several defunct sites that still show up on my list in "My Wetpaint" sites, and I wonder if that is hindering something. I did request not to get email from one wiki. Unfortunately, I cannot "unjoin" them without another glitch happening and throwing me off all sites -- I have tried that in the past too, and I had to rejoin and recreate my entire profile. I'd rather not have to do that. But would it be possible on your end? I mean, to take me off all other site (without banning, of course, lol) so that I can start fresh, so to speak, with just the Supernatural Fan Wiki? Let me know ... thank you. I'll check back here as often as I can, since I have no idea when anyone answers. :,( Do you find this valuable? |

I have to post this here. SORRY! I would have made my own thread but I can't. For some reason I can't make new threads of my own. When I click post when making a NEW thread, it doesn't show its been clicked and say posting, instead I click it and it takes me straight to the home page of the site. And its doing this on all my sites, and the thread never posts. Which is why I couldn't make my own thread on here. Cryingdove I messaged you about it two days ago since I couldn't make a thread but I never got an answer so I had to post on someone else's thread instead. Please help! Do you find this valuable? |

(I think he tried once before, but maybe he was not aware of the futility of the issue.) I'll check back in here, as I will not find messages left anywhere else since I won't know where they are! I ran a database query on your email address and it shows that 6 thread reply notification email messages have been sent to your Comcast address within the last day. Comcast email has always had a history of problems when it comes to Wetpaint email. I would recommend you change the email address on your account again, and see if that has any affect.

Well, I changed my email address to my gmail one, and I send test messages to myself on both the Supernatural Fan Wiki site and on here. Neither one came through. :,( I guess I am cursed to never again have email notifications. I just don't understand WHY.

Create an email account at www.lycos.com. It was suggested to you in a message a while ago. There are some benefits to doing so.It is not a large company like Google, so it is not spam ridden It is not Comcast, with hidden spam filters. Lycos has a spam folder which can easily be checked and any spam can be deleted from there. Spam is not automatically deleted so you will be able to see if Wetpaint is be treated as spam.. It is known to work with Wetpaint. As the other two have been known to have problems with Wetpaint. This would be a definitive test to determine where the problem lies. Do you find this valuable? |
