Weaving Ideas site - supposed to be an education site...
Jan 3 2012, 11:37 PM EST | Post edited: Jan 3 2012, 11:37 PM EST
Dear Crying Dove - I wonder if I have somehow placed my Weaving Ideas site in the wrong location? It is supposed to be an education site (used by Masters Degree students to co-construct ideas), but since the outset it has had adverts. I see that others have noted a change in WetPaint sites for educational purposes, with adverts now appearing.
However, as this is my first wiki I am unsure if my site is classed as an 'education' site?
I think I listed it as such.
Can you advise please? If not, is there a way that I can flag the site as an education site?
Lastly - is there a way, that, as a moderator, I can remove postings by participants (on their request)?
Thank you
Janice

Hi Janice, In the past, Wetpaint offered an ad-free wiki service to educators. That service was ended in 2009. The only way to get ad-free Wetpaint wikis is to pay a monthly fee of $19.95. Most educators find it difficult to justify the cost to their administrative department but it is available if needed.

The category selection of Education is only used to direct content specific ads to that wiki based around Education. It has no other function than the ad category.

Moderators and above have sufficient privileges to remove threads and/or members.
See this page on Wetpaint Central which is an index into the different features, options and uses of Wetpaint wkis.

I would like to invite you to a wiki designed for Educators to share ideas on how to use wikis in the classroom. You may find it to be another avenue to gather information on Wetpaint wikis in the classroom.

Thanks very much for this CryingDove - Greatly appreciated. I have already joined the wikisineducation site, and will be delving into it in a few weeks' time when my current workload eases...
