Centered Tet Within Table Issues
Dec 11 2011, 11:59 PM EST
I have been using tables for a long time and one issue I encounter over and over again is that the text within a table often gets stuck to the left. Sometimes it will not move and other times it will center itself but when you save it it will go back to aligning on the left. This happens with pictures as well and occurs with others as well but I stumble upon with dilemma with much more frequency. This problem occurs in the simplest 1x1 table up to supper complex table stacking although I have noticed that it occurs with more frequency in the stacked tables. Other than that I have found no pattern to predict when the tables defy me. It has managed to scare me off making layouts myself for almost 2 years now and I finally realized someone hear might be able to answer my burning question of "why" and what I can do to fix this.

Tables have always had issues. But they seem to have gotten worse since last year. Here is a method to do to alleviate some of the problems specifically the ones you have mentioned. It seems to work quite well. When dealing with nested tables, do this. If you want a table to be centered within another table. Justify the line first before creating the table. After selecting the centered tool, the table will be centered on the page. If this is not done, the table will never get to the center. If you want text justified within the table, create the text outside the table and set your justification for the text, the cut and paste it into the table. The justification will hold. You will have a difficult time typing text in a table and setting the justification otherwise. The same will apply to images. Repeat this process for all the tables you would like to nest, Once you have created your tables simply select the table and cut and paste it into the other table(s). Note: After cutting the table/text the blank line will still have the applied justification to it. Make sure you set the justification left, before using the line again. Then you can justify it middle or right with ease. If not, Whatever is put onto that line will have the previous justification applied to it. Cell coloration of stacked (nested one cell tables) can be the pits. Here is how to do this without the color clearing when the cell is touched. 1. Color the bottom table, you will see that the upper table cells will be the same color. 2. Right click on the 1rst stacked table and select table. Highlght the cells and change the color of those cells. You will see the next table will take on the same color and the bottom table will remain the color selected for it. 3. Repeat this process until all the stacked tables are the color you want. Start at the bottom table and work you way upwards to the top table. 3 out of 3 found this valuable. Do you? |

I don't have time to test this but sounds like wetpaint logic to me! Thank you very much!

I have never had my color cleared but the copy/paste technique doesn't seem to be working!

"I have never had my color cleared but the copy/paste technique doesn't seem to be working!"I have been working with tables since Wetpaint had the table contest back in 2007. Tables that are very complex such as multiple colored borders, image background in tables with animated gifs and text on the background image, rotating background images in a table with text on top of image and others (http://splats2.wetpaint.com/page/Slide+Show+Page+Background+Image). See this wiki for examples. http://coatsof.wetpaint.com or this page and subpages on Splats2, the next best thing to Wetpaintcentral as far as technical help. http://splats2.wetpaint.com/page/Tables What wiki page is this occurring on? This way I can join that wiki to look at the problem you are having and maybe find a solution that can be explained to you for that particular issue/ Do you find this valuable? |
