Educational wiki
Dec 6 2011, 7:00 PM EST | Post edited: Dec 6 2011, 7:00 PM EST
My wiki was created 4 years ago and was granted an educational wiki no ads status....I thought this was supposed to stay that way and then today I get on and there are ads! My site was recently nominated for an edublog award and I am wondering if this has anything to do with it. I am very upset by this...can someone explain please??? I have been looking for someone to contact but can't find who to direct this question to. 7  out of 7 found this valuable. Do you?

Your wiki should be still eligible for the ad-free status. Occassionaly, not often, the ad-free status is dropped. I will contact a Wetpaint employee to reinstate your status.
Please be patient, I am not certain of their holiday schedule. so response back may be delayed.

I have an educational wiki and am mortified that ads have appeared today. I will not be able to continue to use wiki, which has taken hundred hours to build, if ads remain. I have been paying fee but not sure if that was for ad free or extra attachments. Like wiki but dislike way it is managed, especially lack of recourse to direct assistance. 1  out of 1 found this valuable. Do you?

I found (or so I hope) the culprit shortly after Rich replied.

Wetpaint released a new update for the wiki platform, and in the process, the ads got turned on on all ad-free wikis.

Rich said he would contact Wetpaint about it above. Please be patient as Wetpaint fixes this.

Hi all. I have the same problem. Our site was granted ad free status in 2009 as it is an education site used to share info between schools involved in a sister schools project. I have clicked on 'remove ads' and get a message telling me my site is ad free and showing the ads that are removed. The only problem is that the section on the left below the links still has flashing ads on it. Site is 'expanding horizons'. Please help. Do you find this valuable?

With the recent rollout of Wetpaint software, the way the software parses which sites are ad-free and which are not, became corrupted. Wetpaint is aware of the issue and are working to correct it as soon as they can. Please be patient. 3  out of 3 found this valuable. Do you?

I. too have an Ed Wiki and will be forced to shut it down if the ads are not removed. It is a VALUABLE tool for me, my students and their parents, keeping lines of communication open and making them feel a part of the daily goings on in our classroom. I hope this is remedied--my wiki setting still says No ADs and yet, there they are.
My wiki is : www.missbrooks.wetpaint.com

Until Wetpaint fixes it, we can only have patience until it is fixed. Taking a calm approach to problems we have no control over is my approach. That has been the flavor of this thread and others. Your cap lock replies, indicates your frustration with this recent issue. Again, we can only remain patient until the technical problem is fixed. When any information with regards to this issue is passed along to the moderators here on Wetpaint Central, it will certainly find its way to the community. At this point in time, there is no further information to be supplied.
