Tables
Nov 30 2011, 7:43 AM EST | Post edited: Nov 30 2011, 7:43 AM EST
My tables used to work perfectly but now I am trying to add them and then edit, adjusting size of table and to have lines and shading but some lines disappear to define rows or columns and today I have tried to do this and then used the merge button for some columns and rows but it then just deletes half of the table and the more times I click on the table the more of it deletes (no I'm not pressing a delete button) ????? help this is so annoying and tables are essential to my work on the wiki. Do you find this valuable?

Did you recently upgrade your browser? Are you using Internet Explorer or Fire Fox?
I am using Firefox 8.0 and I have seen some issues with utilizing tables in an advanced way. such as you are with merging. Some other issues I have seen have been:
1. After a copy and paste, the cursor will return to the top of the page and not remain at the end of the paste section like it did previously. This makes using repetitive pastes a real nuisance.
2. Text highlighting on its own.
3. Undo or Redo function is almost non-operative within tables. (WP problem)
4. Clearing text attributes does not work in tables very.well (WPproblem)
5. And my all time favorite is Table Cell color assignment when there is more than two cells assigned to a row. After assigning a cell background it cannot be touched by the cursor or it will go back to the default color. The cell color change has to be the last thing done before saving.

Have you tried another supported browser to see if it happens in both browsers? Some of the issues will not be present in one browser when editing when they do in another.
