Suggestion: Captcha new member spam blocker feature
Oct 21 2011, 7:54 AM EDT | Post edited: Oct 21 2011, 7:54 AM EDT
Jeremy, I know new Wetpaint features are on hold, but if there is anyway you could update a captcha feature to the "join this site" process, because SEO spam bot joiners are becoming a daily feature, where some robot joins with some computer-generated name then inserts some spam link in the user about section. Sometimes I have to go through and ban upwards of 3 to 10 of these spam new members a week. Do you find this valuable?

I agree. I just recently found several spammers that have joined a kid-friendly site. (A Miley Cyrus fan site.) The users don't need to be exposed to things like this.
and Libb, things like the Captcha aren't really considered 'features' if you ask me.
I told Jeremy about a problem with the Captcha shortly after it was added, saying it let me through several times by either: A.) Leaving the last letter out or B.) Putting in a different letter at the end. I believe that is what is causing the spammers to show up. I'm not sure if that still is the same, for I haven't been on in a while, nor have I filled one out on here lately.
The Captcha doesn't work. It still allows them through. It needs fixing. If Wetpaint's going to put it on here, they need to fix any problems that come with it.

EDIT: Just thought i'd add that the bug I said above still works.
