GIF's stop
Sep 1 2011, 4:03 PM EDT | Post edited: Sep 1 2011, 4:03 PM EDT
I've seen other sites how they have GIF's, or animated pictures, and I tried to do the same, but whenever I put my animated picture, after I save it, it blocks. Is it because I make my GIF's in PhotoScape and because PhotoScape isn't best program for making GIF's or? And if so, can youu tell me which programs can make good GIF's who don't block anytime? 2  out of 3 found this valuable. Do you?

Photoscape animated gifs should be ok to use with Wetpaint. Animated gifs cannot be resized or they will lose their animation. Here are some things that are needed to put an animated gif on a page.

1. The gif size must be under 500k. Larger than that size Wetpaint is going to resize the gif and it will lose its animation.
2. If an animated gif displays properly while in easy edit mode and also after saving, but fails when you reload the page follow the instructions below. This will happen quite often, so get used to doing this procedure.

The gif is stored on an image server. The photos in the photo gallery are stored on the same server. When uploading the gif, if the option to ADD TO PHOTO GALLERY is not checked, the gif will be stored on that server, but will not work on your page. So make sure that option is checked. Once it is in the photo gallery and Wetpaint's editor has the proper URL for that gif, then it can be deleted from the gallery and it will still remain on your page. And the animated gif WILL WORK.

If an animated gif is placed on a page and it loses its animation after saving, wetpaint may have resized the image. Edit the photo details and assure the Original Size is selected.

Note: this information does not apply to profile images. That is a different story.
