Upload limit
Jan 26 2007, 7:46 PM EST Honestly, i started a wetpaint website, and i haven't been able to put really good videos on the site, because of the limit of videos memory. 500k? You should upload that to 500mb. That would get a lot of peoples' attention, and then they will make websites. I hate that short limit. 21 out of 27 found this valuable. Do you? |

RE: Upload limit
Jan 26 2007, 10:56 PM EST The attachment option isn't really intended as a place to host large files like videos. Your best option is to host the videos through a dedicated video hosting service and then just put a link to them on your Wetpaint site. If you host your videos through a service like YouTube or Google Videos you can embed them on your Wetpaint site so that visitors can watch them without even leaving your site. 3 out of 4 found this valuable. Mar 26 2007, 1:37 PM EDT Thanks for your feedback, I'll be sure to pass it along to the development team. If possible, can you tell us a bit more about what you would like the use the attachment feature for? 3 out of 3 found this valuable. Do you? |

RE: Upload limit
Mar 26 2007, 2:12 PM EDT I think it's easy to understand. I want to share some files with others friends on my wiki. I dont want to host them on an external server, because it's really boring and complicated for news users. I'm asking you to increase the numbers of attachments that we can add on the wiki and to change the limit to 10Mb for example. The more the best. In advance, thank you. 4 out of 5 found this valuable. Do you? |

RE: Upload limit
May 10 2007, 5:39 PM EDT I honestly would like to see the attachments limited by total size, not by total files. For example, give us 20 MB of total storage instead of "20 attachments, none of which can be more than 1 MB." This gives greater flexibility to users who might want to post a 5 MB video, or who want to post many smaller documents. Thanks! 5 out of 6 found this valuable. Do you? |

I have a wiki set up and am already struggling to figure out how I will handle the 20 file limit. I run 2 gaming groups, and we need to post small excel files - but about 4 for each of the 12 players so far... And that will go up to 10 or 12 per player later. However, those files are fairly small in size (about 200 K) and it would be a hassle to create an esnips account or similar just to host about 2 MB per person. Here are my 2 cps: increase total storage to 25 or 50 MB and/or give more flexible storage. OR! You could give each USER 20 megs of storage total! That way, a popular site would have the flexibility for each user to contribute meaningful content, but keep the total amount of storage that you all have to deal with theoretically the same. Each user's storage space would be count across all wikis. I think this will help encourage real contributors since the wiki admin cannot post a lot of content alone - other users have to use their storage too. 5 out of 5 found this valuable. Do you? |

RE: Upload limit
May 21 2007, 8:53 AM EDT "You can find a file host and link to the file!"That's kind of the whole problem, though, isn't it? I mean, why have every one of my contributors / users of the site go to a 3rd party and create a new account/password and learn to link directly to files? Some file hosting places, like esnips, don't readily advertise how to do that, or even make it possible. The beauty of WetPaint is that it's a User-Friendly wiki, and one of the very best. If all 20 or so users on my wiki have to also create additional accounts, why not just use Wikispaces or Shtuff.com? I'm aware of workarounds, but I'm also cognizant of the fact that web 2.0 startups are a dime a dozen, and small, reasonable changes have to happen in order for these sites to flourish. Giving each user 20 mb of storage (which is already done, in theory) is one solution. Each account could have that storage limit, thereby allowing popular wikis to be more accomodating. 3 out of 3 found this valuable. Do you? |

RE: Upload limit
Jan 24 2008, 11:18 AM EST What is the limit for file size though, in one place on the FAQ it says 2MB and on the same page a little further down it says 1B. That is confusing! Do you find this valuable? |

May 22 2008, 5:02 AM EDT i was just wandering around looking for a wysiwyg wiki farm to enable a sharing space for a nonprofit organization. this -weird- upload limit, diverts my choice from wetpaint, otherwise on top of the list, towards other services. i'm disappointed :-( Francesco, Rome. May 22 2008, 12:09 PM EDT We're a wiki company, not a file storage company. There's plenty of those. Try box.net. They offer a widget that's easily incorporated into a Wetpaint wiki and it allows easy upload and download of files without leaving the wiki. 2 out of 2 found this valuable. Do you? |

May 24 2008, 1:17 AM EDT Yeah, there are many out there. I usually use box.net too. But I guess it's just the same. We just want to store, share and browse files. Doesn't really matter what you use :D Do you find this valuable? |
