Recovering lost content !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Jun 17 2011, 3:34 AM EDT | Post edited: Jun 17 2011, 3:34 AM EDT
Hello!
I changed my wiki from public to private but some contributors have "lost" part of the content they had added.
My question is, can we recover that content if I make the wiki public again?
Thanks for any solution or idea!

Hi,

Can you please provide a URL to your wiki?
You can check for deleted pages by going to:
"Updates" --> then "Deleted Pages". Try see if your missing content can be found there.

Also, you can see previous changes to all pages by clicking "Complete History" on any page. The link is located in the grey box near the bottom of the page.

Madusha,
thanks for your answer, but I couldn't solve the problem.

I've checked all pages updates and complete history, but some content, not whole pages, has simply disappeared, and, I'm sure, it happened when I changed permissions. The weird thing is that I cannot even find it in old versions!!
This is the wiki I mean: http://teachandlearnefl.wetpaint.com/page/Teacher+versus+T-shirt%3A+Teaching+Pronunciation (this is the link to the page where more content has disappeared).

Thanks again

I can see your history page. Maybe its your browser. Have you cleared it of cookies recently?

I can see it as well.

Analinka, do you by chance have an ad-blocker installed? If so, it could be hiding the content on the page.

The only way this issue could arise is if more than one person was editing a page at the same time. The page would be opened in two instances. The first person to save their content would suffer an overwrite by the second person saving out from easy edit mode. The only changes to be seen would be the last person's saved content. In the case of your wiki page, the last person to save the page would be Marimaral. There would be another contributor saying they lost their content on that page. Do you find this valuable?

Thank you, everyone for your comments and suggestions! I have tried and checked what you have suggested, but there is no way to get that content back.
Bellswebster, I can also see the history page, but it also missing there.
Naru 2008, I hav eno ad-blocker that could prevent me from seeing that content.
CryingDove, Marimaral is the main contributor to that page so she is the one to save more content, I just make some corrections when the pages are "finished".
However, that is not the only page which has problem, in other pages the quality of the images has diminished. So, I guess it all happened when I changed permissions, bad idea...

You may have to look at redoing it. Do you find this valuable?
