First, be respectful for other members in the community. If they are facing a similar issue as you, they will never find this thread to read it. oAo for a topic title? Under Error messages? And about a service offered by another company. In order to try and help you, more information is needed. Who is the "it" that says you cannot use Copyscape? A Wetpaint message or a Copyscape message? P.S. Using Copyscape does not prevent the copying of anything. What it does is search through popular sites on the internet to see if the same content is being displayed there as on your wiki. If a match is found Copyscape will report it to you. That's all. Then you have an opportunity to take legal action (in courts) to have the information removed from that site. Note:Copyscape only does a webpage. You would need to generate a new Copyscape checker for each page on your wiki. Most people copy the Copyscape banner to put onto their wikis to be used as a deterrent to the unaware. Plus there had better be proof that you are the copyright holder by registering the material through the government. I just finished working with a problem of alleged copyright on a warriors wiki. The person claimed a Herb list was taken from their wiki and posted on another. When it was pointed out to them the list, word for word, could be found on a professional site dated far before their copying of that list. So it was asked who is the one that is actually violating the copyright here? Do you find this valuable? |
