Killing Off “System Tool 2Ø11.”
Dec 20 2010, 3:07 AM EST
So I got hit by ANOTHER “Drive By Download” (one of those virus programs that download themselves as “new anti-virus” programs). This one was stubborn, but I actually killed it myself.First, I tracked it down to it’s lair; I right clicked on the shortcut to figure out where on my computer it was hiding. I opened this location, and tried to simply delete it. That didn’t work, so I changed the sysemt extention from “.exe” (executable) to “.jpg” (image file), then changed the name to “Deadfile” (cause I really AM ready to hang and burn at the stake these “people”), then renamed the file itself to “deadfile” (I’m STILL not “calm”), then left clicked the file folder and unchecked the “Read Only” box and clicked the “Apply” button. Now I shut down my computer and turned it back on. Finaly, I deleted the full file folder. Once it was sent to the recycle bin, I emptied it. Dead. Gone. Well, sort of- If I had Shred It computer program, It’s be shredded and killed, but I STILL want to do terrible, awful things to the people who create these things. Do you find this valuable? |

That's a pretty good technique. Although some virus programs prevent you from opening anything, or going to their directory. So there is a much more complicated way to do it, which is easy if you know how. Do you find this valuable? |
