Message/Thread Extras

I think in messages & Threads we should be able to do different colors for the text, whether we want it bold, italics, or underlined and different fonts. Because when I am trying to emphasize a word in messages I have to put it in caps lock which makes me look mad/yelling. So please consider adding this Do you find this valuable?

You can also emphasise words in other ways, such as using symbols or different fonts in your threads Do you find this valuable?

Yes, it's possible, but it is not simple, which is why we don't tell people. We would get flooded with questions about how to change fonts and add images in threads. This would make it harder and more time consuming for us here, and we really don't have enough man-power to deal with those issues plus more important ones like threads asking for easy edit help, etc. Do you find this valuable?

I agree with you Justin, but only half and half. I agree that you should keep quiet about it... but some people just need a little detail to their threads. Sometimes, I, myself, can't even explain what I'm talking about good with just this normal text. Heck, how it would be better to use stylish fronts and colors. It would explain more about such we are talking about.
But hey, that's just my excuse.

I'll admit, this is a valid suggestion. Yes, it would be nice to have different fonts when posting on threads and in messages. Also, there is another reason why we don't tell people how to change fonts and add images in threads. If someone knew how to use these extra features, they could easily insert a virus into a thread. Wetpaint doesn't really know who's on these forums. If everyone knew how to change fonts and add images in threads, it would get very dangerous. That's why the information is kept a secret. Purely for the protection of our members. Do you find this valuable?

Yes, but why not ban members who do such on threads, using the pictures and fonts? Because I have to admit, a lot of people on Wetpaint are nice and don't do that. But that's just what I believe. I'm just saying, have you seen the people on WCC2, Matt, who beg SapphireTail and other members who know the secret, to try to learn it themselves? And I doubt those people would make a virus or such.

But I may be wrong. -shrugs- I'm just saying.

Again, you have a valid concern. The secret of adding images to threads was quite hidden a long time ago. Then, a few of the moderators on Wetpaint Central, including myself, came to know about it. However, I was asked by Jeremy, one of the employees, not to spread the reason for this very reason. Anyone who knows the secret should keep it to themselves. Yes, not everyone asking wants to implant a virus on Wetpaint, but it only takes one person to do it. If the information was leaked into the wrong hands, a virus could be easily inserted. If the secret is shared to vastly, it could very well fall into the wrong hands. To prevent that, we ask all that know how to insert images into threads to keep it private. There are a lot of nice people, but all it takes is one person to insert a virus. Do you find this valuable?

I guess you're right, with that explanation. Because what you posted here makes more sense... sort of, well, more than the other posts. Either way, have you ever seen people posting threads on their profile, trying to find out? Say, what if they actually figure it out? Then what? Not like it would actually happen, but if it did, would you keep watch over them, make sure they don't insert a virus? Do you find this valuable?

As a Community Moderator, it isn't my job to watch anyone who figures out the secret. If someone is smart enough to figure it out on there own, chances are, they aren't trying to insert a virus into Wetpaint. A majority of people on Wetpaint would use the information to have fun in threads, that's all. However, as I explained, it only takes one malicious person to insert a virus. I just want to point out: I didn't make the decision on keeping this a secret. The Wetpaint Employees didn't want us telling anyone and we did as they said. Since I don't work for Wetpaint, I can't give you a full explanation on this. If you want a more in-depth answer, I would message jeremy_wetpaint. Do you find this valuable?

I understand it, almost fully, now. I'll message him, but in the meantime, I'm just going to figure out more... about this secret, for designing threads. Do you find this valuable?

I can think of over 500 members that have been exposed to the SECRET. Haven't seen any complaints of a virus being caught from a thread yet. But I guess, I am just different. Think about 500 members each having two friends that want to know the SECRET. Geeze now that number becomes 1500 who know. And those two friends tell two other friends. It could spread like wildfire. Tongue in cheek so to speak, but I think that is more close to reality than most think.

I'm one of the people who knows the secret, but I only use it when I can actually be bothered. I believe with this secret, you could build an entire site in a thread (If you had the patience). All you need is the knowledge. That's what makes it so dangerous. Do you find this valuable?

This feature is a good suggestion though. A more interactive discussion forum which would make your wiki have a built-in and fun forum. Do you find this valuable?
