I would update it as I'm a writer, but the mods locked almost every page on the site, so Writer isn't much different from Registered at the moment. 1  out of 1 found this valuable. Do you?

Hey, these pages are important! D:< That's why we lock them.

Maxwilly, you need to show more respect to the moderators. We kept them locked because, a few months ago, there was no such thing as writer status on Wetpaint Central. Everyone used to be able to edit the pages. Since we didn't want the pages vandalized, we locked them. However, if you would like to update one of the pages, you should message one of the moderators and ask them to unlock it for you. Making rude remarks like that is un-necessary. You are a writer on Wetpaint Central and therefore, you need to set a better example. Do you find this valuable?

So... what does Writer status mean... when all the pages are locked?
Maxwilly is right... that makes a Writer not much different from Registered User...
I read Maxwilly's reply... and I can't find anything rude or offensive... against the moderators...

Pages are important... should not be vandalized... ok... but...
Give Writers a chance... and if they mess up... talk to them (by private message and not in public, like above... show some respect... and set a good example as a moderator!)... revert the page (that's why Wetpaint advertises that everyone can contribute and build a site together... you can always undo unwanted changes...) and if a Writer proves to be a messing contributor... demote him or her...

Actually, not ALL pages are locked. You need to look more closer.

Registered Users have no clue which pages are locked and which are not locked. That is only shown to Writers and up...
Anyway... that Google Calendar Example page... seemed to be important enough to lock... As Writers can't edit it... according to Maxwilly...

Thank you for supporting my opinion. And I have a lot of respect for the moderators, I didn't mean to be rude. I think you took it a bit extreme.

You must admit, Writers can only really add pages, then edit the ones that they have created themselves. As most other pages have been locked. Do you find this valuable?

Again, the moderators don't dictate which pages remain locked and which ones can be unlocked. Most of the pages are locked because they have been completed and don't need further editing. You have to remember that the moderators are not in charge of Wetpaint Central. Jeremy is the head administrator on Wetpaint Central and therefore, he would decide if we could go unlock pages. Also, Jivanda, Maxwilly revised his original post. His original post was:

"I would update it as I'm a writer, but the mods lock every flipping page on the site, so Writer isn't much different from Registered -_-"

I would consider that disrespectful, wouldn't you?

I don't find Maxwilly's remark offensive, but I do agree, complaining does nothing. Asking the mods via PM to unlock the page before posting in a thread would have been better.
Also this thread should be locked before a mini-flame war :P

Don't worry, I'm not a flame war kind of guy. I hate arguments, especially online. THey're pointless and get people nowhere.
