"Being the creator and an administrator is basically the same. Of course there can be only one creator, but then this creator (you) can assign any members you want as administrators to assist you. You'll all have the same permissions on the site, which is basically to change anything you want except delete the whole site.

In order to promote a member to administrator status, the creator (or a similar administrator) must go to that member's profile page, click on the "change permissions button", chose "administrator" in the window that pops up and confirm.

As for writer status, if I understand your question, it only matters if your site is set to "invite-only", because then only members promoted to writers can create and edit pages."
