Forgive me...
Sep 6 2010, 4:29 PM EDT
I hate this new update!!! It is truly crap, I mean what is the point of it? You are basicly making it a news network, instead of making wikis! You are ruining what Wetpaint was made for. And I for one, am truly disappointed. I am not liking the new release. Not at all.

It hurts because wetpaint is changing and no one but the Ceo or whatever is liking it. My site is crumbling, writers and mods are becoming furious and if nothing is taken care of its the end of wetpaint. Don't sugar coat this problem please, its hurting wetpaint. I personally think the users of wetpaint deserve a sorry, because some just wasted 1 - 4 years of work and dedication, even if the wikis are operational. 2 out of 2 found this valuable. Do you? |

Here's how it is. Either change what has happened or wetpaint is doomed. It may already be too late to fix. Tons of sites are complaining and I don't know how much wetpaint has in it.I can say this, revert the site and you may still have a chance. If not, how far do you expect to go? Wetpaint has completely become a vanishing image of what it used to be. This riot will go on until everyone has quit or wetpaint understands this was a huge error. Do you find this valuable? |

"Here's how it is. Either change what has happened or wetpaint is doomed. It may already be too late to fix. Tons of sites are complaining and I don't know how much wetpaint has in it.I don't think anybody can say Wetpaint is doomed as of right now. If they made this (apparent) change in direction it's because they believe they will progress, strive and make more money out of it. What could indeed be "doomed" is their wikis "branch", at least in the long run, since they seem to be hardly promoting it anymore, but if this is so, it's Wetpaint's choice. Their new homepage may lead to the belief (imho) that wikis may be now a thing of the past for them. It's sad for us users, but not for the Wetpaint commercial company as a whole. If they will regret this in the future or not remains to be seen. ... Or we could be totally wrong and wikis will still remain big for them, just as they were till now. Many more news and explanations will no doubt surface in the next few days, I'm sure. But... Tosan139, didn't you say long ago on another thread you were making your last post about this? It's been several others already since then... LOL ;) Do you find this valuable? |

I understand its about money, and I obviously respect that. Maybe they aren't doomed, but even if they branch on this, and a lot of people quit.. How can that be good for wetpaint?. Its not sad for us users, its horrible. Especially the truly dedicated ones. I do hope that tomorrow something can happen and wikis don't get ignored.. But if this is how wetpaint is going to be now, people will quit. They said they would. Judging from Pm's this isn't going good. Let's face it. I have a right to be mad. I've been on wetpaint since 2008, also other users that have been on longer are angry. Even wetpaint central moderators/writers are mad. Unless you are in the shoes of mine or shadow, then you can't even come close to know how this feels. Do you find this valuable? |

"Yes, until the situation got worse. I understand its about money, and I obviously respect that. Maybe they aren't doomed, but even if they branch on this, and a lot of people quit.. How can that be good for wetpaint?."I surely don't know how this will be good for Wetpaint or not. The suits there are the ones who decided this, and I'm sure they must have had very solid and economic reasons to do it. I don't think they're trying a financial suicide. You must remember that the wiki members are not the direct source of revenue for Wetpaint: the advertisers are. It's free to be a member. Of course I do realize that the more active members caring for the wikis they have, the better content the wikis will have and the more advertisers they may be likely to attract. However, maybe the suits at Wetpaint realized they can attract even bigger revenues and advertisers in this new format... I dunno... Of course you do realize I'm just playing the devil's advocate here... hehehe... Edit: If this pans out as it seems right now, I want to say I'm indeed sorry for people such as you who have put huge efforts on creating and maintaining wikis. It must be really hard to see your work unappreciated like this... I'm also a (recent) moderator on three sites and a passionate member of three others and I also feel sad myself... I don't think they're trying a financial suicide.Maybe so. I guess I'm just speaking for a lot of people here and I don't intend on making enemies with Jeremy or any higher up people for wetpaint, I respect them, but I can't fully respect the decision. Since 2007/2008, our wikis have been shining and people have been trying they're hardest to get them active and to potray a great website. It was hard starting January 2010, and it just got harder. I believe Jeremy needs to readd in the wetpaint 500. Its the only way to avoid conflict. If they do that, then I'll at least be satisfied because then it would seem like our wikis matter. Because trust me, from our dedication they do. Do you find this valuable? |

"I am not entirely sure. You'd have to check with jeremy, but, I still think the old Wetpaint logo rule still applies."LOL I'm kidding, man. I'm not gonna put up the old logo, even though it's ironical I put it up as my first image when I joined just a few days ago and you warned me not to. The old logo is still visible on this very Wetpaint Central site and it will probably always be associated with the wikis. Do you find this valuable? |
