Profile editing bug
Sep 4 2010, 4:12 PM EDT | Post edited: Sep 4 2010, 4:19 PM EDT
As many of you guys know, if you try to edit someone's profile as an Administrator or Creator, the changes go to your profile instead of that users.
After you hit Save in EasyEdit, you should see a dialouge that looks like this
http://www.wetpaintcentral.com/photo/10672600/-
When you see that, it says that another user has made changes to the page while you were editing. It asks if you want to either:
A.) Edit the new version and manually merge your changes into it. (recommended)
B.) Do not save your changes and view the new version.
or C.) Save your changes and write over the new version.
When you see it, click the X in the top right corner of that box. After is goes away, hit Cancel on the EasyEdit toolbar and you should get a message that asks if you are sure you want to cancel. Click "Ok" and it should look as if you never messed with it. Go back to your profile, and nothing of yours should have been changed,
Until this bug is fixed, I would suggest NOT editing anyone else's profile, wether they ask you to or not, and tell them to edit their profile themselves.
Do you find this valuable?

WOWWWW awesome time to find out! now my entire profile is totally gone! you guys need to honestly send emails to admins/creators instead of having them all come to the main site when they already screwed everything up. Now how the hell am I supposed to get my profile back!? Do you find this valuable?

Sigh, I agree Wolfy...

In the future, make a template and save your profile on that template so you don't have to worry about it disappearing :(

Like seriously, whenever you guys find problems like this that can eventaully make people angry and a little P.O'd don't you think it would be a good idea to give a heads up VIA email or message? would save a lot of headache from people who will swarm in to tell you about it Do you find this valuable?

*sigh of relief* will the exception of a few select picture I managed to revert my completely screwed up profile page back to normal using the same problem that caused it to become screwed in the first place >.> irony much. I edited someone elses profile and pasted my old profile onto theirs so it then in return reverted and didn the same onto mine which evidentally fixed the whole code errors that I caused trying to fix it >.> *sighs* -shakes fist angerly at wetpaint- Do you find this valuable?

Wetpaint isn't in on the weekends, just fyi. I only found this out today. (Mainly because I do not edit others' profiles.) I agree Wetpaint should send these kinds of bug reports to all users, or atleast Administrators or Creators to let them know what is going on. Do you find this valuable?
