Inappropriate profile pictures
Aug 5 2010, 5:35 AM EDT
How do I prevent people who have no writer permissions from posting images of and links to adult material and videos on their profile page. I'm constantly having to ban these people and remove the material. There doesn't seem to be a way of preventing them from doing this, other than making the website private, but that defeats the object of the site.

You can not. It it their profile, therefore, they can edit their profile however/whenever they wish as long as they do not break your rules. This is a spam attack that Wetpaint is working on. Most have been targeted because they were edited by Wetpaint is some way. If too many of them have joined and you want to ban them without getting any more in the process, make your site private by going to Permissions under Settings and make it Private. Then, ban the users and anything else you have to do. Wait just for a short period of time and then make it Private again. If they continue, contact Jeremy or Kevin and they well check out your site:Jeremy: http://www.wetpaintcentral.com/account/jeremy_wetpaint Kevin: http://www.wetpaintcentral.com/account/moderator_kevin If they have an innapropriate rofile picture, and you are Administrator or Creator go to their profile and look for a: Remove Picture under their pic. Click that and you should be able to remove their pic. -Alex, Wetpaint Central Moderator Do you find this valuable? |

Yes Evil_Genius, you are correct. Administrators AND Creators can edit profiles. Administrators and Creators basically do the same thing, except, Creators can't be banned.

That's what I thought, I was just correcting you because I thought you wrote that we can't remove the stuff cuz it's their profile page.

What I posted was:"If they have an innapropriate rofile picture, and you are Administrator or Creator go to their profile and look for a: Remove Picture under their pic. Click that and you should e able to remove their pic." I included Creators. Do you find this valuable? |

No, I was talking about the profile, not the pic, and I wasn't talking about creators. A misunderstanding, if this seems like I'm angry I'm not, just trying to make sense of it, thanks!

Thanks for that. I did remove an inappropriate profile picture on an earlier occasion, but these recent ones had put a whole load of pictures up AND embedded a porno video. I don't really want to make the site private because of what the sites intended for. If I do get any more, I'll contact you as suggested. Thanks for the advice.

I just misunderstood your post or didn't read it very well. 0 out of 1 found this valuable. Do you? |
