Droplets and private sites
Aug 3 2010, 3:14 PM EDT | Post edited: Aug 3 2010, 3:14 PM EDT
My site isn't private, yet I don't have a "droplets" tab
I did have one and used it a year ago, but it seems to have vanished - has it been discontinued?

They were removed, as Naruto87 said. They were removed becuase their carrier (or host) of the droplets was either shut down, or they just quit hosting. Can not remember what Jeremy told me. (weeks ago, cannot find the message)

My problem with this thread is that there is a page that still promotes Droplets. Why hasn't it been deleted. Same as Imeem. If it is no longer available, then why leave it hanging around to confuse people. Do you find this valuable?

Here is the actual comment Jeremy posted when another user noticed Droplets were no longer available.

I talked to couple of people about this issue and it turns out that the third party provider that we were using decided to retire their services. Unfortunately, this means that Droplets are no longer accessible. We will be removing the droplets page from Wetpaint sites in order to avoid further confusion. Droplets that have already been added to pages will continue to work through the end of the year.

Similar to Droplets, you can use Content Modules to add dynamic content about your site: http://www.wetpaintcentral.com/page/content%20modules
If you are tech savvy, you could even scrape the source HTML from a content module and place it on your blog or other site.

Since he said Droplets will work through the end of the year, I'm seeing if you possibly try to take a Droplet from a prior version of a page if it would still function correctly. Obviously it doesn't do much good though since it would only work for the rest of this year.

I actually talked to Jeremy about that CD. He said no because people might want to learn about the droplets even if they are no longer used.
