As of now, no. Jeremy is looking into this bug, but, he is just one man. There are other things Jeremy deals with, but, I assure you, he is looking into it to fix as we speak. Do you find this valuable?

"Is your site a private site?"
My site is private (and I am the one who posted the original problem). I tried again today and the function is still not working. Thanks.

Users are not able to join a private site by invitation at this time. The solution is to change your site permissions so that it is not private and invited members will then be able to join. Once the members have joined you can change the site back to private.

As of now, they are still looking into it, as far as I know, so I have no clue when this will be fixed. It may not be fixed until Monday if they don't get it fixed today. (They don't work on weekends.) But, they are working hard to fix it so, please, be patient.

If you need to send out invites, I would send an email to everyone you're inviting and in it, include the link and set a time on there of when the site is Public. (If you do as CryingDove said above.)
An example:
http://www.yoursitehere.wetpaint.com
Please join when site is public between the times: 4:00 - 5:00 PM.

Something like that above.

I'm having the same issue.
I used firebug to check the HTTP request-response.
It seems like the "Send invite" form is missing a captcha field. And the server is rejecting the request asking for the required captcha value. That's why a confirmation dialog is not shown either.

As a work-around if this is the problem, I suggest to skip the captcha validation on the server side until the invitation form is fixed.

I don't suppose this has been resolved yet? I was going to pay to upgrade the account to get rid of adverts as it's to be used for work, but if I can't even invite anyone there is no point!

Looks like kfgodel has a good solution, I had a quick look at firebug too.

Unfortunately, the bug is proving tricky to isolate. We will try to have the invite feature back up as soon as we can. Sorry for the inconvenience.
