Invite permissions

I am trying to resume use of my private class wiki, but when I send an invite, I don't get a permission level checkbox and my invitees get an invite, but cannot enter the site. Do you find this valuable?

The invites for private sites were removed last year.

You will have to go to permissions under settings and make your site public, wait until they join, then make it private again. Do you find this valuable?
