How many moderators should a wiki have?

We have a new wetpaint wiki The Borgias which is related in a way to The Tudors Wiki. The Tudors Wiki has over 4000 members. We are not as big as The Tudors wiki but it is very very possible that we will be wiith The Tudors ending. I do not want to make every single person a moderator. How many moderators are good per ratio of members so to speak? Do you find this valuable?

I figure you should maybe have one moderator for every 500-1000 users. 2  out of 2 found this valuable. Do you?
