Inviting new members to a private site
Feb 27 2010, 8:51 AM EST
I am the owner of a private site "Carden of Molesey". Using the "Invite New Members" button invitations to join the site are duly received. When the new invitee "accepts" the invitation he is directed to the home page of the site where he is informed that it is "Private" and that he should contact the person who invited him. I then signed up with a new user name as a wetpaint member and did a search for my website and was informed that it doesn't exist. The site has three other members (writers) whom I invited to join when I set up the site some months ago and they managed to join without problem.

Since the invitations feature for private sites was dropped, you will need to set the site public, allow the members to join your site, and set it private again. This only takes 2-3 minutes to complete, and your site would not be exposed to any publicity of other users. If a user not wanted joins your site, you can easily ban them.
