All gifs get changed to png type
Nov 9 2006, 12:42 AM EST | Post edited: Nov 9 2006, 12:42 AM EST
Hi
My site url is http://sa-world.wetpaint.com
browser version IE 6 & OS is Win XP.
The major concern is, whenever i insert an image in animated gif format. The animation displays on site for sometime. But later after some hours or a day, the image automatically changes its format to static png type. So does that mean, wetpaint does not support animated images for more time? Pls reply.

This is, unfortunately, a known issue that results from the fact that animated gifs cannot easily be modified (resized, etc.) and still retain their animated state. Animated gifs will, however, work for your site logo. We are looking into ways to solve this issue.

Inserting an animated gif in any other site generally does not cause this problem, also if the image created is not resized while inserting on wetpaint, then the problem should not occur. Actually if the image is saved on wetpaint servers as a gif image with a "XYZname.gif", then what possible reason could call the image in the site as "XYZname.png". This clearly explains that there is some auto generator that detects gif images & convert them into png images.

Ah, I just posted a bug on this same issue. My site was created specifically to be a collection of animated GIFs. It's an unfortunate problem and I hope it gets fixed soon.
