You did not select ad-free. You selected to get a Custom URL. Just because you got the Custom URL, doesn't mean you also get ad-free for free.

Well, to remove the ads from your site, you would need to be an administrator or above. Then, go to the "Settings" menu, and hit the "Upgrades" tab in settings. Then, you will reach a page in which you can remove ads.
