Featured Content Module
Feb 21 2010, 1:38 PM EST | Post edited: Feb 21 2010, 1:38 PM EST
The featured content module shows deleted threads... that were featured once...
Can you please adjust this?
Or show me how formerly featured but now deleted threads won't show in the module?
What steps I need to take for that?
Even the content of the thread is displayed in the module !

When you create a bunch of featured threads, it will eventually go away.

That is no solution !
I think it is a Wetpaint bug in the Featured Content Module !
It should NOT show deleted threads or deleted pages... !!!
A deleted page has the option to undelete it and un-feature it...
But unfortunately... for threads there is no option to do that !

I also noticed that some pages cannot be featured...
I will get an error notice: We are sorry, an error occurred. If this problem persists, please reload the page and try again.
Tried it many times.... and yes I reloaded the pages too...
Don't know why this occurs...?
Don't have this problem with some other pages...

I have been on sites since July and the deleted threads stay until you make others that replace it. Do you find this valuable?

We have 8 featured threads...
how many should be featured before it will not show in the content module anymore?
We only keep a small amount of threads on our site!
And ask people to use the existing threads...

I don't know. The site I was on featured 100 threads before the one vanished. So it may take some time. Sorry! Do you find this valuable?

If there is no solution for this problem...
we just can't use the Featured Content Module !
Cause we won't have more than 100 threads anyway... let go of 100 featured threads...

Okay. I don't think it really matters at all though if old content is showing. I don't even use the thing. Most sites just have it there because they are to lazy to delete the dang thing.

This is a problem on the American Idol Wiki. The content module shows a featured thread that was deleted a while ago because it was a duplicate of another thread. I believe it is a bug in the system. On the bottom of the American Idol Homepage is a Featured Content Module. 8 out of 8 is a featured thread that was deleted.

Jivanda, I featured a thread, and it showed up on my feature content module. But you can un-feature it. It's in the moderator tools. I unfeatured it, and it disapeared of the feature content module. I don't think its a bug in this system. Do you find this valuable?

Wait, I think I know the problem. It was our mistake. Until Wetpaint creates a restore thread button, we need to un-feature our threads before we delete it. I'm sorry, but you can't fix it. Do you find this valuable?

Please read this, it should solve your problem:

http://www.wetpaintcentral.com/thread/3719026/Make+threads+and%2For+page+contributions+disappear

Delete your threads one reply at a time before you delete the whole thing. Then and only then will it vanish.

Thanks everyone for replying...
Unfortunately... there is still no solution...
I guess we will see the deleted (formerly featured) thread forever in the content module...

Deleting replies is ok... Captain Spaz... but you can never delete the first post... To delete the first post you have to delete the whole thread...

In future we will un-feature threads first, before "deleting" them... (now that I know they never really can be deleted, as they still show up in content modules).... and also you cannot access them anymore ... you cannot un-feature deleted threads, nor delete their replies... afterwards...

Thanks all for replying !

Is Wetpaint going to solve this problem????

The one solution to this problem would be if Wetpaint added in the option to restore threads. Since that has not been implanted into the system, it is not a solution. It may not be a bug, because the featured content module is supposed to show all the featured content on the site, deleted or not. I will talk to Jeremy about this, and see if there is a way to fix the problem. Do you find this valuable?

What I meant is, you delete all the replies and then you delete the first post using the Moderator tools.

Whenever I delete a thread, you never know because it vanishes completely from the site updates page.

In the site updates it is not shown anymore...
But in the Content Modules... it is...
