Virus Problem
Feb 4 2010, 8:14 AM EST
I have been a long-time wetpaint user and frequnetly recommend it to teachers when giving faculty development workshops. Three teachers who are using a wiki I created with wetpaint have reported SERIOUS problems. When on this page of my wiki (www.buildinsecondlife.wetpaint.com) they got virus protection update alerts. One of them (unfortunately) clicked on it and admitted a trojan virus to her computer. Hours of downtime and hundreds of dollars of technical support to retrieve her data. I will stop using wetpaint.
Do you find this valuable?

Users that are at high risk have not installed this update: http://www.adobe.com/support/security/bulletins/apsb10-02.html Wetpaint is working feverishly to find out how this malware has been getting onto our network. This is an example of the type of Trojan that the exploit can be place on your machine using the above exploit: http://www.symantec.com/security_response/writeup.jsp?docid=2009-121422-3337-99 Do you find this valuable? |
