Virus threat
Feb 1 2010, 6:05 PM EST
Visitors to the acac.wetpaint.com site have experienced virus attacks from "spyware protection 2009" which apparently attacks with viruses named BankerFox.A and Nuquel.E.These threats are apparently commercial promotions but can affect windows files for computer use. The viruses may be distributed through the scrolling ads. Does wetpaint have any means of removing viruses from sites? Any further advice for site administrators to handle such problems? 1 out of 1 found this valuable. Do you? |

"Visitors to the acac.wetpaint.com site have experienced virus attacks from "spyware protection 2009" which apparently attacks with viruses named BankerFox.A and Nuquel.E.1. Is this happening just to that specific site or other sites. 2. Wetpaint is still in a process of removing them. 3. My advice is to clean your computer with your anti virus program. Also make sure your firewall is up and running. ~Sasukecool 1 out of 1 found this valuable. Do you? |

Sorry for the late reply.I couldn't say if it is happening to other sites. I know almost for sure that the viruses came in through a problem with the flash-based ads. Our astronomy club was hoping to use Wetpaint as a simple website but since we've had at least two visitors' computers infected so we've disbanded the idea. Do you know if Wetpaint is done with removing those ads and preventing this from happening again? Do you find this valuable? |
