A Note About Viruses and How You Get Them

Computer viruses are often spread by attachments in e-mail messages or instant messaging messages on the internet, (not Wetpaint IM or Email). That is why it is essential that you never open e-mail attachments unless you know who it's from and you are expecting it. This doesn't mean a friend who has contacted a virus cannot send you in email, unknowingly, an infected attached file.
Viruses can be disguised as attachments of funny images, greeting cards, or audio and video files.
Computer viruses also spread through downloads on the Internet. They can be hidden in illicit software or other files or programs you might download.
IMPORTANT
"To help avoid computer viruses, it's essential that you keep your computer current with the latest updates and anti-virus tools, stay informed about recent threats, run your computer as a standard user (not as administrator), and that you follow a few basic rules when you surf the Internet, download files, and open attachments."
Once a virus is on your computer, its type or the method it used to get there is not as important as removing it and preventing further infection.

Antivirus Live is one of many fake antivirus applications like Advanced Virus Remover and Internet Security 2010, that are really rogue viruses that take your computer hostage—then they tell you that your computer is infected by viruses, and you have to pay them to get rid of the fake viruses that aren’t really there. It’s a huge problem, and they are not easy to remove, because they block virtually everything you try and run, including real anti-malware tools.
