"Why aren't photos and photo albums that get created counted as a contribution to a site?"Good question. I deleted over 4500 irrelevant photos from Wetpaint Central and got zip for it. 0 out of 1 found this valuable. Do you? |

Maybe its because sometimes they aren't relevant to the site.

Well they should be for those who have a large amount on their site. They are apart of contributing to the wiki...Even if you only get 1 credit for putting the album on...as CryingDove has spent hours doing it so have I...you think getting 1 credit per album wouldn't be too much to ask.

I have been wondering about photo contributions as well. Photos and videos can add so much to a site...just imagine a site without them. If I add or remove 1 word from a page, I get a contribution credit....and then I spend 2 hours uploading pictures into an album so that I can add 1 slideshow, and nothing. I have also spent hours editing photos that people have not titled or tagged properly when they uploaded them...and nothing. Seems to be a bit off to me. Does anyone know why photo or video additions have never been considered as contributions? Just wondering. Thanks. :)

Probably the main reason that adding photos to the site gallery does not count as a "contribution" is because the photo gallery featureset was designed and added to Wetpaint well after the contribution system was already in place. Adding a photo to a page, however, does count as a contribution (page edit).

Thanks for responding Jeremy. I realize that adding a photo to a page is a contribution, but it is all the work that you do in the photo gallery and the video gallery that takes so much time and work. Many times it involves hours of work Often people don't title and tag photos properly so if you want to to edit the gallery to make it right there is...well, nothing.
