Deleted thread showing up on igoogle

I've deleted a thread as a monitor back in the summer following the directions here, but when students subscribe through igoogle to the site satellite or wiretap the thread still shows up. Is there any way to refresh/remove that? When you click on the link it shows the thread removed, but I'd like it not to show up at all. Do you find this valuable?
