Re: Help to remove highly suggestive advertisement "True Blood"

We all understand that advertisements provide earnings to the open source developers. The question is what type of advertisement should be posted in wiki that focuses on teaching and learning. For our case we had indicated that we use WIKI for learning then please do not allow highly suggestive advertisement to creep in because our target audience will be teachers and students who do feel uncomfortable accessing the wiki. I'd requested for a replacement of a more decent advertisement in Wiki site. Please look into this as some of our teachers feel uneasy accessing Wiki with such advertisement posted as banner. We all plan to explore other open source with more decent advertisement incorporated. Thank you Do you find this valuable? |

One of the most difficult areas a user of the internet has to face is content of the billion of websites out there. Advertising is the mainstay for most companies offering a free service. Wetpaint diligently monitors ads that come from the different ad services and is most responsive to assure inappropriate ads are removed. True Blood (HBO) is one of the Big Brand advertisers on Wetpaint. Needless to say, I do not think their ads will disappear. I think you can understand that. What to do to minimize such ads on your wiki? The best method I have found is to change the Site Category. If you are the creator of the site, you can go to "Settings" and under the "Name and Logo" tab, select a different category for your wiki. I too was concerned about some of the ads appearing on my sites. Now most of my wikis are under the category of Autos. My sites receive auto related ads. Over the last year, I have not experienced any inappropriate ads after making this change. You may want to give that a try to see if the advertisments are more excepting to your audience.
