Backing up Your Profile Tip

As there is no page history for profile pages, so you can't revert themWhenever an error occurs (your profile is messed up, friends list at the bottom f.e.) And there is no way of recovering except to start over from scratch and rebuild your profile. So it is best to have a backup of the most recent profile. HOW TO BACKUP YOUR PROFILE PAGE Go into EasyEdit...select the whole profile page below your avatar ( CTRL+A ) and copy it ( CTRL + C ) Now CANCEL out of EasyEdit on your profile page. Create a new page on your wiki and name it "your login name" profile backup. Easy Edit the page and Paste (CTRL +V) and save. Move the page to Un-Categorized so it doesn't interfere with the normal site pages. TO RESTORE YOUR PROFILE PAGE On the profile page ... go into EasyEdit... > select the whole page > delete everything > Save > Refresh the page.. It will look like an unedited... empty profile page... but normal again... Go to Un-Catergorized Pages. This is done by going to Updates - Pages - Un-Catergorized. You will see a list of the backed up profile pages. Select your profile page by clicking on the title. This will open your backup page. EasyEdit the page, ( CTRL - A ) to select all, then ( CTRL - C ) to copy.Cancel out of your EasyEdit mode on your backup page. Then go to your empty profile page, Easy Edit your profile and do a paste ( CTRL - V ) and save. You have now a good profile. * Note: The same can be done for Site Templates (as for Templates there is no page history either) This tip originally supplied by Jirvana a community member of Wetpaint Central.
