profile page won't trim down to 778 pixels
Nov 1 2009, 9:34 AM EST
Will the "my friends" and "my sites" uneditable sections of our profile pages be deleted when the format changes? I was told that material to the right of 778 pixels will simply be clipped. I tried reducing the table size to confine the user-editable material to 578 pixels on my profile page, but the Wetpaint-controlled column on the right did not shift over to the left to fit on the screen. Please advise. http://paddockparadise.wetpaint.comPossibly Wetpaint needs to change the width of the table at the top of the profile pages to allow the column on the right to shift onto the screen? Do you find this valuable? |

I think the main problem is the very first table. The one with the picture of you and your mare. There are two tables. An outer single cell table which you use as your border and an inner two cell table for your pic and text. That outer table may need to be resized. I temporarily copied your profile and was able to shrink it down by adjusting the photo sizes and the table widths. The temp page has been deleted. It is my understanding if you make the tables "fit to page", when the new format comes around, they will automatically adjust. Do you find this valuable? |

Thanks for your reply! When you temporarily copied the profile and shrank it, did the Wetpaint column on the right move into the screen without a horizontal scroll bar? (You did set it up in a profile template, right?) I tried changing all the tables to 400 pixels, which only left me a blank green column between my profile info and the grayed-out inaccessible Wetpaint column on the right. I think the problem is from Wetpaint's table at the top (containing my role and compliments, etc). It seems to be holding the page wide, preventing the friends column on the right from moving into he screen, but there is nothing I can do to alter it. So I'm sure that Wetpaint will adjust it when the time comes. I'm just trying to remove the horizontal scroll bar everywhere I can. Do you find this valuable? |

I did notice the Wetpaint's top table was large. You may want easy edit your profile and copy all the information and paste it onto a new page. Then delete all of the profile content, and save your blank profile to see if the WP's top table shrinks. If so, then you can add the information from your new page back to your profile. I would do that in small chunks. This way if the top table expands, you will know which element is creating it. If when the blank profile is saved and the WP table is still large, then I would send a message to Jeremy_Wetpaint and have him look at this thread. Hope this helps you. Do you find this valuable? |

Thanks -- that worked like a charm. I think changing the Layout Zones is what got me in trouble in the first place, but I'm not sure. Not going to mess with that again. Anyway, the table width that fits on the profile page seems to be about 578p.

This way the table can be adjusted as needed. Glad it worked out for you. Do you find this valuable? |
