Adding a custom URL without an interruption of service
Oct 1 2009, 7:18 PM EDT
I have had a URL redirect for the wiki I created for about 9 months now. It essentially acts just as an alias to the site, since I have set it up using a "URL Redirect" rather than a "CNAME" record. It is time to upgrade to a CNAME record, but I'm worried about an interruption in service while the new settings propagate through the network of DNSs. What steps should I take to minimize the impact on my users?
Do you find this valuable?

Does anyone have any thoughts on this? Basically, I'm just switching from a system where when someone types in tmswiki.org they get redirected to tmswiki.wetpaint.com (and tmswiki.wetpaint.com is what shows up in their address bar) to the standard Wetpaint Custom URL system. Is there a Wetpaint person who could comment on this? Do you find this valuable? |
