There's an friends option, but what would be great is an option to ignore people rather then friend them.

When you put them on ignore you no longer see there post.

is this something that you guys might work on at some point? Do you find this valuable?

It sounds like a good idea, and it is already somewhat usable. In your messages, you can choose the "Block Communications" option. This, effectively, is the same.
