Help - ongoing formatting error
Sep 18 2009, 9:37 PM EDT | Post edited: Sep 18 2009, 9:40 PM EDT
Thr problem is repeatedly occuring on http://gamilaraay.wetpaint.com and an example is on http://gamilaraay.wetpaint.com/page/Session+8
My web browser and operating system - Windows Explorer 6 and 8 - Vista and XP - keeps occurring on different computers

The page looks good and then when I save it large gaps appear in the page - please see 2 pictures in the User Reported Bug photo album both tagged with formatting. titled 'Formatting bug - view when saved' and 'Formatting bug image 2'

When I return to the edit mode it looks good!!!! But if I try and delete or backspace between the lines they won't budge.

Have tried removing all bullets and heading modes back to normal but still continue to see problem. Very frustating!! As we are teaching via this medium and it is being used as a model for others Australia wide!

It first appeared in template I made. I no longer use the template but still the error is occurring.

No error messages received.
It just looks like huge gaps on the screen which makes the page very unattractive.

Hope someone can help on this matter.

Vivian

Was the content of these pages copied from a different page/website? This may be caused when code is copied from outside of the editing area e.g the ads. I'm not aware of any other current problems that may cause this. I'll get Jeremy (WPC Head of Staff) to take a look at this.

I'm having the same problems using Firefox 3.5.3.

Hi Medusha
The info was copied from what finally became a good page on one of our site pages but perhaps it contained issues still.

Perhaps the answer is to start from scratch but still i can't fathom what caused the error in the first place on the template page and then other session pages.

Regards Viv

I think I fixed it. There was some hidden code in the page that was creating extra div tags. I used the old trick of cutting the text, pasting it into MS Notepad, and then copying it from Notepad back to the page. That strips all the encoding out. You may need to re-add links or any special formatting that you wanted in the text. 1  out of 1 found this valuable. Do you?
