Invitation to Join my private site not working. HELP!!!!
Sep 17 2009, 9:07 PM EDT | Post edited: Sep 17 2009, 9:07 PM EDT
I am teacher and 40+ parents are waiting for some direction. I created my site and sent out several email invitations but 90% of them were not able to create a username. I tested it with my other email accounts and I too was unable to move forward with creating a username. TERRIBLE TIMING!

mr.gregorsclass.wetpaint.com

Here's what I and the other people I invited are seeing:
1) They get the email that invited them to the site.
2) They click on the "accept invitation button."
3) They are then redirected to the standard login screen NOT the "create a username" screen. The URL for the page is http://mrgregorsclass.wetpaint.com/?mail=1126

PLEASE HELP or I'm going elsewhere...

Thanks,
Adam

I have had the same problem with some of my members as well, but not all. I have had to resend numerous times.

Not sure what the problem is, as I do the same thing each time

There is a bug with the system at the moment, causing issues with any and all membership change. Please bear with us as we attempt to fix this bug.

Thanks for your patience!

Can I receive an email letting me know when it is fixed so I can resend the invitations? Or maybe I could send you a list of usernames (all with the same passwords) to be set up so parents can log in?

Just to reiterate, I am unable to invite new members to my Wiki. Changing membership is not the issue.

Thanks,
Adam

I'm having the same problem. I saw the posting that there's a bug in the system, but I feel the NEED to point out that this kind of "bug" creates HUGE problems for teachers that rely on your wiki for projects that are RIGHT NOW in libo!!!!!

Why did you update the system anyway. It was fine, simple, and WORKING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The system needs to be updated every so often to stay fresh. There are many features that are wanted by a number of members all over Wetpaint. Wetpaint tries to meet these demands with an update about every month. However, sometimes the update causes things to go a little buggy, but once Wetpaint resolves the issue you have a working system along with some cool new updates to improve your wiki.

As Shadow said, Wetpaint needs to update to stay fresh. Someone was complaining about updates before. Let Wetpaint do their Job!! Jeez! You people who are impatient are annoying, not trying to offend you, but youl are really impatient with them, all the time! Give them the time they need, people! That's all.

I do like updates and a better site. I just hope it is fixed soon so I can have members access my sight. I'm sure the wetpaint crew will continue to work hard on this deal-breaking bug. 1  out of 1 found this valuable. Do you?

Since all the accounts need to be created under different emails, Wetpaint can't create them for you. This is only a bug, and it should be fixed pretty soon. 2  out of 2 found this valuable. Do you?

Complaining about updates and changes to background color is silly. There is nothing wrong with complaining about broken sites that are necessary to 21st century classroom instruction. My superintendent is asking to see our site so it'd be great if this fix could be completed quickly. 1  out of 1 found this valuable. Do you?

I read in another post about a problem that is occurring with invites not working properly on private sites and where Wetpaint is working on this issue. Notifying Wetpaint via this forum of problematic areas is welcomed and is indeed a major portion of Wetpaint Central's mission.

Each of us has our own specific desires for our wikis. None of those desires are silly. Complaints are, specially those that give ultimatums. A user of a free program making demands or they will go elsewhere, is silly. It is analogous to "An ant demanding an elephant to move out its way or else". What is even more alarming, is the ultimatum comes from a teacher. I am not surprised, since this seems to be similar to the attitude of those educators that have voiced their opinion here on WPC with regards to the ad-free program ending.

I am sure that Wetpaint is working on trying to fix the prioritized issues as best they can.

In the meantime, since your site is a private site, what you can do, is to change the permission of the site to one away from private This way the parents can join and most importantly your superintendent can view your work.

I apologize for any misunderstandings my posts may have caused. I assure you that I am grateful for the Wetpaint services and believe your product is the most user friendly Wiki on the market and I look forward to sharing it. I'm curious to know if this bug is considered a high priority bug? Will I be notified when this bug is fixed so I can send out invitations to my Wiki?? 3  out of 3 found this valuable. Do you?

I am having the same problems with my private site too, and it is creating problems with our work flow, since the invited members can't log in to check their work schedule/assignments and status. It is slowing down our work. 2  out of 2 found this valuable. Do you?

I sent 31 invitations last night, including one to myself at another e-mail address to see what my class would receive and have not yet received anything. Three questions:
1. How soon will the problem be resolved?
2. How will we know it has been resolved?
3. Will I need to resend the invitations or will the ones I sent go out once the bug is fixed?
Thanks very much for your prompt attention to this big problem!

There are indeed several layers to this problem: (1) invitations that were sent in the prior version (on Tuesday or Wed) are not all working in the new version; (2) there is no way to track which invitations were sent, or which usernames are attached to which invitations; (3) the new invitations only allow for registrations, so the administrator has to manually, individually give writer permission to members - taking time for the administrator and delaying user work; and (4) for those of us using these for educational purposes, these delays are delaying projects and assessments.

I do appreciate that Wetpaint is working on this, but a timeline would be helpful - and in a really visible place so we know what's going on. Can they send an email to all administrators with updates/news on the fixes?

Same problem for my sites too. I have made them public now - not the best solution but at least students can get in. At one stage I got shut out myself but got in via wetpaint central and managed to log into all my sites from there and change the settings. Might be useful to know for someone out there. Yes, it would be extremely helpful at this point to be notified when the problem is resolved. It is very time consuming to search these threads everyday to see if there is a posting on its resolution. I would be very grateful if some sort of time line for the resolution could be posted (understanding it would not be to the exact day and minute) as well as the best way for us to find out it has been resolved.
Thanks.

Same problem . . . I have a class of 45 students and an assignment due on there today, but a number of them have not been able to become members. Please send something out when this is fixed. Also - if we make the site public, how much of a hassle will it be to make it private again? Do you find this valuable?
