Changes to invite process?
Sep 17 2009, 4:34 PM EDT
I just invited new members and noted a change in the process... the popup window no longer looks like the one on this page... I did not have the opportunity to set their status as writer vs. moderator (I'm site administrator), and I no longer have the option to view the status of invitations (were they sent, were they accepted, etc.). What has happened? I really valued these features.

I don't think members can solve this. The WETPAINT administrators need to comment or correct an obvious bug introduced by the new design. How do we reach the Admins? Do you find this valuable? |

You have to message then and then they direct you to a page... usually. The only way they will fix the Invite button (Which is slim to none.. Saddly) Will be if they get lot TONS of issues... Like the new discussion forum issue before, they didn't have enough people with issues with it.

Worse yet, more than one among my invited people said they couldn't sign up to be a member when they clicked "Accept Invitation" - And I just sent out invitations to some large groups (20-30 people).I hope Wetpaint will fix this problem soon! 1 out of 1 found this valuable. Do you? |

If you don't want to join, i'll send him a PM myself. Did you try to re-send the invites to the people it wouldn't allow to accept it and become part of it. If nit, then try it while I send Jeremy a PM, if you would like me to. Do you find this valuable? |

Well, how are they to know who didnt get it or who it didnt work for. I doubt she want's to go through and re-send everything. And, like I said, When you send a message for help they send you to a page to 'fix' your problem. Chances are, all that will happen is he will say ok or what not, but chances of it getting fixed within' the month let alone the year aren't very good. Sorry if it seems like I'm trashing Wetpaint.com, I'm not meaning to, but.....

just a thought but it would be helpful if the invite list was sort of an adress book so we could organise it into alphabetical order, or class groups. I am trialling my wikki with all of my classes and it would be handy to group them together in the invite list for reference. Also we had the abilty to dlete old invites etc to kepp it tidy. Not sure if this is possible but it would be very very helpful.

Do you suppose they are treating us like this because we have free education accounts with no advertixing and that they are hoping that we will get so frustrated that we change to paid users.Kinda of shaby of them. I guess I will start working on something I can host myself. It would be nice if they didn't do this at the beginning of the new school year when I have a lot of things to get out to my students. I really don't like being made a fool of in front of my students like this. Do you find this valuable? |

"Do you suppose they are treating us like this because we have free education accounts with no advertixing and that they are hoping that we will get so frustrated that we change to paid users.Unbelievable. Private sites have nothing to do with having advertisements or not. The problem is with the invite process to private sites, not to educational ad free sites, which most are private. Circular reasoning doesn't work here. Do you find this valuable? |

I don't have an advertising free account so i don't hink that has anything to do with it.. My guess is they are just making changes and haven't thought it through yet. I 'm sure they are working on it.

"Do you suppose they are treating us like this because we have free education accounts with no advertixing and that they are hoping that we will get so frustrated that we change to paid users. No offense, but you kind of sound snobbish. Wetpaint wasn't created for the purpose of having free wiki's for teachers. Wetpaint was created for everyone so you could create your own easy to use wiki. Wetpaint updates to meet the needs of the public, not a single group. Assuming that they are trying to get money out of you is simply childish, everyone is experiencing these problems. Plus with all the educators that threatened to leave, Wetpaint would never take such a risk to lose even more educators. So before you start making outrageous claims, please keep in mind 100,000+ other members that are not educators suffer the same problem. Sorry if that is too rude moderators, you can delete this post if you wish. I am simply speaking what is on my mind. 1 out of 1 found this valuable. Do you? |

Thanks for the link. I'm just trying to get some teacher things done. I have teaching to do and this is the busiest time of year for me. I don't have as much time to find out why things are not working this time of year. I'm quite surprized that they would allow this to happen to everyone on the site.Let me know when the crisis is over. I've got to scramble . Now I have to do a lot more than I would if I could just post everything for new parents in our wetpaint site. I also have to appologize to a bunch of my parents. Do you find this valuable? |
