recycling site-how to gang-delete pictures, etc.

I'm a teacher and use my sites for semester-long discussion, posting, sharing, group work, etc. I'm recycling a site from last spring semester and have figured out how to ban the old students, but don't see how to get rid of all the images they posted (classwork) last spring without going image by image. Way too time consuming. Is there a way to delete the whole photo gallery and start fresh?
